Cloud9: valens stands-in for Golden due to illness
For those currently watching the ESL Pro League Season 8 match between Cloud9 and Ghost, you may have noticed that coach Soham "valens" Chowdhury is currently playing on the server in place of Maikil "Golden" Selim.
Without an official announcement, Dust2.us has learned that the team's IGL is currently in Sweden, due to suffering from some health issues. These are the same health concerns that forced Golden into missing the first day of BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen. When valens stood-in for Cloud9 during at that event, the team secured a 1-1 record after a loss to Na`Vi and a win against MIBR.
With Golden still back in Sweden, he will not be featuring in their matches tomorrow against NRG. Cloud9 require wins in their final two matches to have a good shot at securing one of the two final qualification spots to the Season 8 Finals.
Cloud9's roster for the matches against Ghost and NRG is as follows:
- Timothy "autimatic" Ta
- Will "RUSH" Wierzba
- Robin "flusha" Rönnquist
- Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey
- Soham "valens" Chowdhury (stand-in)
As of writing, Cloud9 won the first map of their match against Ghost, a 16-14 win on Train. They have one more map against Ghost tonight, at 7:15 PM, before they meet NRG tomorrow at 8 PM EST.
