eUnited fell in the Group A Elimination Match

Kinguin and Imperial to DreamHack Montreal playoffs; eUnited eliminated

The Canadian event will see an all-European playoffs bracket tomorrow.

The second day of DreamHack Montreal as concluded, with the North American stars eUnited falling short in their group, while the European stars move on to the event's playoffs stage.

The day kicked off with the North American represenatives eUnited taking on Kinguin. The series began with Overpass, which was eUnited's map pick and their strongest map. Their pick worked out for them, with eUnited dominating the Polish squad 16-7, albeit with Kinguin still managing to pull their own weight.

Nuke proved to be a struggle for the American squad, who began on the T-side of the map. Put at a servere disadvantage, Kinguin crushed eUnited 14-1 in the first half, with Jacek "MINISE" Jeziak leading his team to a strong first half. eUnited attempted to pull it back in the second half with a valiant effort, but Kinguin's round advantage from the first half made a comeback nearly impossible. Ultimately, Kinguin closed out the map 16-9, tying the series 1-1.

On Cache, Kinguin secured themselves a lead in the first half, but eUnited tightened the gap, with the scoreline reaching 9-6 at halftime. Will "dazzLe" Loafman and co. tied up the score 9-9 immediately in the second half, but Kinguin ultimately pulled through, taking the third map 16-13 and closing the series 2-1, eliminating eUnited and moving Kinguin on to the decider match.

The last American team—in the most literal sense—was Luminosity who, after falling to AGO in the winners match, took on Imperial for the last spot in the playoffs. The first map, Cache, saw Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles lead Luminosity to a small lead in the first half 9-6. Imperial retaliated in the second half with six straight rounds, giving them the upper hand 12-9. Luminosity took back the scoreline in response, nearly putting themselves at match point 14-12. Imperial ultimately came out on top, forcing their way through four straight rounds to close the map 16-14.

Imperial continued to crush Luminosity on Overpass, with Rokas "EspiranTo" Milasauskas' team taking a clean first half 12-3 with a hefty lead. While Luminosity took the first three rounds of the second half, it seemed to be but a mirage as Imperial easily took the last four rounds of the map to take Overpass 16-6, knocking out Luminosity and allowing Imperial to proceed to the playoffs.
