OpTic return to Europe; leave vacancy in North American EPL
ESL have annouced that OpTic have requested a transfer from the North American division of the ESL Pro League to the European division.
However, since there are no available licenses in Europe, the team will instead be directly invited to European MDL, where they will have a chance to earn their way back to the top division.
The immediate impact for North America is that there is one extra spot in the league. Dust2.us knows that SK still hold their license from last season, so it is expected that MIBR will be issued the new license — however ESL have yet to confirm that. We also know that the players of boxr will retain their spot, after they were released by Splyce at the end of last season.
As such, the team list for ESL Pro League Season 8 is currently:
Cloud9 | Ghost |
Liquid | Luminosity |
NRG | Renegades |
Rogue | SK |
eUnited | boxr |
compLexity | TBA |
ESL Pro League is set to kick off on October 2nd. Further announcements from the league regarding the vacant spot will be expected before then. Another date to make note of on our calendar is September 23rd, wihch is when the WESA transfer window will close.
Note: An earlier version of this article stated that ESL Pro League Season 8 was starting on September 18th.
