Young Guns: The breakout players of Fragadelphia 12

We've selected five lesser known players to showcase from the LAN in Philly.

After the conclusion of Fragadelphia 12, we have compiled a list of lesser known players who had an exceptional or breakout performance for their team. We will detail their games at the Philadelphia LAN as well as discussing their recent online league play as well.

United States Sam "s0m" Oh

This 16 year old is fairly well known in the community, mostly due to his performance in Rank S / FPL as well as his time with compLexity as a streamer. Fradadelphia 12 was s0m's first LAN however, and served to prove whether or not he could replicate his online form. As a stand-in for RESOLUTE, s0m helped the team to initially advance from Group F in the first seed.

He top fragged in their first match against Fidelis and put up a 2.18 rating. He continued with respectable performances in their heavy victories against Hollywood's Hooligans and Interstellar and then in their close loss to Hooked in the second round of the playoffs, s0m managed to go even and put a 1.05 rating despite the loss.

He played an integral role in their dispatch of Mentality in the lower bracket, putting up 104 ADR over the two maps, but for their final two matches against Dignitas fe and ownage were more average for s0m. For the entire event he maintained a 1.24 rating, which was the third highest on his team. The young rifler has said that he is currently on the lookout for a team.

United States Austin "RenZ" Dickman

RenZ currently plays for Hysteria, who placed in the top eight of Advanced in Season 28 and will compete in the relegation tournament in the hopes of qualifying for MDL S29. The 15 year old started off the tournament well, helping his team to a 16-3 win vs PHD as well as top fragging in their victory against Clout Chasers. Hysteria still advanced from their group in the first seed and would face PUPstars in the first round of the playoffs.

RenZ put up an 84% KAST against PUPstars, and Hysteria ended up facing Swole Patrol in the second round. Despite losing 6-16, RenZ still put up a 1.09 rating and 75 ADR. Down in the lower bracket, RenZ carried his squad in a long best of three against Empire, racking up 79 kills and a 1.46 rating in the three maps which resulted in a victory in the end.

In lower bracket round four Hysteria took on Interstellar and it was once again RenZ is stepped up to the plate for his team. Nearly 120 ADR and an 85% KAST over two maps allowed them to move on again past Ryan "Snakes" Amann and co. Eventually his ridiculous form would end, and against Vireo.pro, RenZ finally dropped off. His team managed to take a map off the MDL side, but after the match finished the youngster only could show a 0.75 rating.

Over the entire event, RenZ maintained a 1.24 rating, by far the highest on his team. With relegation coming up soon, this performance by both RenZ and Hysteria bodes well for their hopes of advancing to MDL.

United States Alan "Shakezullah" Hardeman

The brief coach of F1-racecar-PEEK, Shazezullah, had decided to return to being a player, and so far that decision seems to have paid off. The 20 year old has teamed up with iNTACT, and competed in the Main division for Season 28, making the final of the division with ease. They notably won't participate in MDL relegation due to not being invited, much to the dismay of some community members.

iNTACT swiftly advanced through Group K, not dropping double digits in their three map wins. Shakezullah himself garnered the top rating in the game against Mentality, putting up 106 ADR. The game versus Vital was also impressive with a 1.54 rating, even if he was outshined by some teammates. In their first playoff match, iNTACT was slated to face the Hooked mix, who seemed to be in the dark horse category for the event.

This match ended up going to five overtimes, but in the end Hooked, with Leonardo "Laski" Arroyo far ahead of the rest, managed to snag the victory 31-27. However from the iNTACT side, it was Shakezullah who put in the most work, still boasting a 1.22 rating in the loss. Down in the lower bracket, iNTACT managed to dispatch Grizzlys quickly, with Shakezullah putting up a respectable 95 ADR.

In round three of the lower bracket, iNTACT faced off against Mythic. Due to collision with the Batallion 1944 tournament, caster Roy "Strong Legs" Ahad stood in for Alexander "LeX" Deily for the first map. The two maps were pretty decisive victories for Mythic either way, but Shakezullah still managed a 1.04 rating over the series.

For the whole tournament, Shakezullah maintained a 1.26 rating, the highest on his team, a bit above Christopher "Swahn" Swahn who held a 1.24 rating himself. iNTACT will look to fight their way through Advanced in Season 29 and from there find promotion to the MDL.

United States Alec "halo" Sacry

halo finds himself on KAIJU, who played in the Main division during Season 29. His team went 8-8, and will fight through that division next season as well to then get a chance at promotion after. KAIJU found themselves in Group A and easily took down Drama Dogs and Penn State in their first two games, with halo racking up 2.04 and 1.84 ratings respectively.

Their last game pit them against Vision, where they were handily dealt a loss, with halo still garnering the highest rating from his team at 0.94. They still advanced to the playoffs in the second seed and faced off against BlackOut in the first round. KAIJU were again handed a swift loss, but halo was also on the top of his team, again.

In their lower bracket match, they played a close game against Empire. halo carried the brunt of the weight for his side, putting up a big 1.36 rating and 84 kills only to have his team lose the third map in overtime. This put KAIJU as having a mediocre at best result, but certainly stood to show the prowess of halo, who was only outplaced by a teammate a single time in the whole event. Over the whole event, halo maintained a 1.38 rating, which is the highest of any player on this list.

United States Victor "food" Wong

During this tournament, food played on the same team as s0m, meaning their matches and path through the event will be the same. However, their stories are quite a bit different. food gained prominence from his many weeks winning FPL, and has played the last two season of MDL with Freedom 35 and RESOLUTE. He fragged out in the group stage, putting up a minimum 1.62 rating in their three matches, including a mind boggling 2.52 against Hollywood's Hooligans.

This made food the highest rated player over the group stage, which averaged to over 2.00. The FPL star cooled off quite a bit once the playoffs hit though, and hit it rough in the first round against Hooked, posting only 15 kills against the mixed lineup. He played quite well in the next two lower bracket matches, but was outshined by teammate Tyson "TenZ" Ngo for the most part.

food finished his run at Fragadelphia with a mediocre performance against ownage, who placed second overall. In the end, food ended with a 1.32 rating for the event, which was the highest on his team, and certainly proved that his skills extend past FPL pugs. For the upcoming season it looks like food may find his way into the core of Monstars while staying with the RESOLUTE organization.
