Jerry Jones and partner buy majority of compLexity Gaming
The owner of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, and real estate mogul have bought a majority stake in compLexity Gaming, ESPN reported earlier today.
The Cowboys, often called "America's Team", are worth just shy of $5 billion, and both Jones and Goff are billionaires in their own right. compLexity were once thought of as "America's Counter-Strike Team", though the organization's teams have struggled recently.
It was also announced that Jason Lake, the CEO, co-founder, and long-time face of the franchise, will keep his role and retain a minority stake in the organization. Fellow co-founder Jason Bass has sold his share of the organization and will no longer be a part of compLexity.
Dust2.us has learned that a third partner, Alex "JaX" Conroy (of Jax Money Crew fame), has also sold his portion of the company in the deal. Conroy became a part of the compLexity organization in 2009, after the collapse of the Championship Gaming Series — JMC had participated in the league under the moniker Dallas Venom.
ESPN also reported that the organization's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team would be relocating to the Dallas/Fort Worth area as part of the deal. The compLexity team house is currently located in Denver, Colorado.
compLexity once housed the roster that would go on to become Cloud9, but their teams have struggled once that one left due to disagreements over Major sticker money. The current compLexity squad attended the Americas Minor this past weekend, where they finished fourth place — out of consideration for both prize money and a Major spot.
