NRG qualify for StarSeries i-League Season 6
Last night saw two North American sides in NRG and compLexity face off for the single spot available to the region at StarSeries i-League Season 6 in October. Both teams were seeded directly into the playoffs in this qualifier and overcame Swole Patrol and Dignitas, respectively, in the semifinals.
They began on Nuke, and it was NRG who came flying out of the starting blocks, picking up the pistol round and the following eco rounds. Even though compLexity secured the first buy round, NRG returned with an eco to prevent their opponents from gaining any sort of advantage in the game. This continued, with compLexity failing to gain more than just one round at a time, until a 11-4 advantage for Damian "daps" Steele and co.
Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte was by far the strongest performer on the server, running with a 132.8 ADR by the end of the map, with this being seen as they picked clean their Major attending opponents with five straight rounds in the second half for a 16-4 win.
Inferno appeared more of the same for NRG, who overcame compLexity's start by winning the first buy round and then cementing a strong lead at the midpoint of the half. This form continued until the end of the half, once again preventing their opponents from gaining more than one round at a time for a 10-5 lead.
The second half looked to start strong for NRG, who secured the pistol round, before the two sides traded rounds with no-one really getting the better of another. This time Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov was leading the server, hitting a 1.74 rating. NRG eventually came out on top, securing the final four rounds they needed to take a 16-7 win.
This result sees NRG head to their second StarSeries i-League event in a row, set for the Kiev Cybersport Arena between October 7th and 14th. They are the first team either qualified or announced for the competition, with the rest set to be revealed in the weeks leading up the event.
