ESEA Season 28 playoffs underway
The playoffs for ESEA Season 28 are now underway for the Open, Intermediate, and Main divisions, with a few notable names such as iNTACT, Old Guys Club, and GT Academy already winning their opening matches.
With ESEA changing the moveup process at the start of the season, competing teams have a clear outline as to where they need to place to achieve a moveup for Season 29.
Most importantly, the top eight teams from Advanced are set to take on a single invited squad alongside the bottom seven teams from MDL Season 28 in a relegation tournament, where only four teams will claim a slot in MDL Season 29 as ESEA looks to reduce the size of their premier league. Advanced playoffs are set to begin on July 30th, seeing the likes of oNe, Mentality, and Big Frames fight for a slot in the relegation tournament.
The winner of Open and top four from Main are set to move up to Advanced; meanwhile, the top 16 from IM and 2nd-8th from Open will move up to Main. Finally, the 9th-64th place playoff teams from Open are slated to move up to IM. Teams with less than six wins are set to automatically be moved down to the division below.
