Waves E-Gaming announces $10K event
Waves E-Gaming have announced a $10,000 LAN to take place in September as well as an online qualifier on August 18th and 19th granting ten spots at the Grand Opening Tournament. The top ten teams get free registration to the event, while the top two teams will get an additional $2,500 in travel and accomodation support.
There will be a $1,000 prize pool for the qualifier, with the distribution shown below:
- 1st - $500
- 2nd - $300
- 3rd/4th - $100
The qualifier can be found on Swarmio and can hold 64 teams with a $100 entry fee per team. Each game will be best of one until the semifinals and final, which will be best of three. All the BO1s will take place on Saturday the 18th while the BO3s will take place on Sunday the 19th.
The qualifier will be streamed on the Waves E-Gaming Twitch channel.
The main event will be at the Arena and Sports venue in Vaughan, Ontario from Sept. 28th-30th and will feature 30 teams. The tournament will begin on the 28th with a group stage of six groups of five teams. The 29th will see the "knockout stage" which will use best of ones. The final day will have the semifinals and final which will be best of threes.
The winner of the tournament will get to face a "professional team" for a chance at an additional $5,000.
