CLG defeat Misfits in Toronto
Group B of the Americas Minor began with a tilt between CLG and Misfits, currently the third and fifth best teams in North America.
After the veto concluded, Mirage was determined as the backdrop for the match — it is both team's most often played map. CLG got off to a strong start on their Terrorist side, taking the pistol and amassing five rounds before Misfits were able to answer with one of their own. Unfortunately for Sean "seang@res" Gares and his men, the rest of the half was a bleak affair, and saw CLG finish 12-3.
Misfits granted themselves a reprieve by taking their own Terrorist-side pistol, and were able to string three rounds together following it, narrowing the gap to 12-7. CLG then were able to claim victory on a mixed buy, with Stephen "reltuC" Cutler grabbing a pair of CZ kills, and Kenneth "koosta" Suen chiming in with two of his own from his AWP.
However, Misfits were able to immediately reset CLG, who then in turn reset Misfits and put themselves up to 14 rounds. Misfits rattled off another four round streak, then reset CLG yet again.
However, disaster struck for Misfits in this 29th round, as CLG on a full save and armed only with default pistols were able to overwhelm them on the back of two headshots from koosta.
CLG and Misfits now await the winners and losers, respectively, of the second match of the group, which will feature the Brazilians of Luminosity versus Premier side Rise Nation.
