xCeeD: "There were a lot of things they didn't tell me"
Whilst at DreamHack Austin, Collin "CarbonDogma" Davis caught up with current free agent Jack "xCeeD" Holiman to talk about his current situation and what happened with his previous teams.
To start off, how were the final weeks of Dignitas? I had talked to mCe and he had said there was internal issues and things like that.
The final weeks of Dignitas were kind of hectic. When in scrims we were having a lot of issues internally with roles and mistakes that would happen frequently. We were looking for a change in the structure of our team, where they could be more impactful with the roster they had. They had felt that it was the best choice to replace me and find someone who can do my job better.
Then you had joined up with Armada and they seemed like a really promising team, so what happened there to result in your departure?
A lot of people don't really know but I was actually cut from Armada. There is a lot of internal reasons that I don't know if I can disclose, but part of it was everyone was scared to do certain plays sometimes and there was only really two people on the roster who would actually be doing playmaking and there was a lot of disagreements on mid-round calls, where we would go aggressive on one side or if we would just play passive and hold.
Based on those disagreements that we had, one thing led to another where our IGL, Ian "motm" Hardy, didn't want to call anymore and that resulted in me being benched and they were going to bring floppy in on trial. Later on floppy came on trial, motm stepped down from the role of IGL and then shortly after the team disbanded because they couldn't find another IGL.
So are you disappointed about the fate of Dig and Armada, because both of them are pretty much completely split up from their original lineups?
I'm more disappointed with the Armada decision more than Dignitas. With Dignitas, I had it coming since before MDL LAN. I'm pretty sure they decided to keep me on Dignitas because of the potential they saw in me at MDL LAN, when we made Pro, and they wanted to give me a chance. But it just wasn't enough and I needed to step back and re-evaluate the way I play.
But on Armada, it felt like a blindside because there were a lot things they didn't tell me about issues that I had in game. The issues that were brought up were easy fixes that I didn't really see as issues that could result in someone getting cut. I was basically blindsided because of the fact that I never knew I was getting cut. It happened after my birthday and I took a two day break to do my birthday. It was just unfortunate because I woke up the next morning seeing I was cut. None of them talked to me, the manager was the only one who talked to me and they basically didn't talk to me about all of the issues that I could have fixed in game.
There was a rumor of you joining The Entourage, but obviously aproto is in there now. So are you close to joining a new team or anything?
I actually don't know, I had a couple of offers. What happened with The Entourage was that I was set to join before Shawn "witmer" Taylor left, but then he stepped down so it threw everything out of wack, where they were going to pick me up and then last second David "Xp3" Garrido didn't want to IGL and AWP so they decided to try out another AWPer.
I never heard from them after and next thing I know Alex "aproto" Protopapas is on the team. In searching for a team, I haven't really gone through with many of the offers I've had or opportunities that I could've taken mainly because they haven't gotten back to me or something. As of right now I'm still a free agent looking for offers.
