cogu steps down from Gorilla Core
Raphael "cogu" Camargo has left the active lineup of Gorilla Core, the organization revealed to ESPN today. Filipe "fp1" de Caires was also announced to replace him on the lineup with immediate effect.
cogu, who has played with the Gorilla Core organization since April, has achieved very little during his time in the United States. They won ESEA Open Season 25, and was promoted to Premier, but currently hold a 2-9 record, the bottom of all the actively playing teams. cogu in particular made headlines recently when he stood in for Immortals at the ELEAGUE Premier after kNgV- was removed in lieu of the DreamHack Montreal drama. He didn't play too terribly in the event (relative to his current level), but only had a single map with a 1.00+ rating.
cogu later released a statement on Facebook in Portuguese and English where he said:
I'm no longer part of Gorilla Core's CS:GO team.
I've always placed all my work on top of everything in my life and I've always [worked hard] when talking about CS, but it's been a while that I can't show my real gameplay, I feel that my performance fell by trying to adapt myself to another gamestyle which is not mine.
It was not easy to take this decision, I kept going until the maximum that I could do, but I believe this is the best choice for me at the moment. I don't want to harm anyone. I apologize for taking so long to give you guys an answer, but I was trying to solve this in the best way I could before telling to everyone.
I won't stop playing and I didn't leave the team to play in another. Meanwhile, I will still stream (/cogu) for Gorilla Core, to stay close to the people who have always supported me. I'm also open to negotiations, any organization that demonstrate any interest, please contact me via email ([email protected]) or DM on Twitter (@cogucsgo).
Anyway, I want to thank the organization for trusting on my work since the beginning and for all the support. I can't either forget to thank my teammates by fighting by my side in search of our objectives and I'll continue supporting them in this path.
I come back to Brazil with my head held high and full of will to write another story.
Gorilla Core's roster going forward is as follows:
- pbf1
- gut0
- RCF
- dukka
- fp1
