coachJ resurrects Guerrilla Tactics
It's been an emotional roller coaster for the boys of Guerrilla Tactics. From the sudden retirement of Shawn "witmer" Taylor, to their organization dropping the team, followed shortly by the departure of Bradley "crazylegs" Waddington, Marcos "tacitus" Castilho and even Justin "coachJ" Anzalone himself, the roster all but imploded.
When the dust settled, coachJ received an outpouring of support from friends and strangers alike, and after deep consideration, decided he wasn't ready to lay down and die just yet. He went on to announce yesterday via Twitter that he would be rebuilding the roster from the ground up.
Of the people who reached out to him, it was Spenser "shrek" Adams that was relentless in his attempts to re-motivate coachJ into not giving up on what he cared for so much. It was this very same quality of passion that ultimately led coachJ into offering shrek a spot on the new roster. Avid readers of Dust2.us can certainly vouch for shrek's relentlessness when it comes to shitposting.
Despite the opportunity to rebuild the successful Main team, who even with their troubles maintain a 7-2 record in the league, Lucas "Fiziq" Blow decided to bow out of his role as primary AWP for the team and now seeks new avenues to venture.
As for Belal "FGB" Ahmad and Christopher "Spriggals" Spriggs, the two will continue with the roster until permanent replacements are found. In the case of the former, he was originally filling in for the team in order to hold down the spot, and the latter "is bored with the game", according to coachJ.
When reached out to, coachJ noted that he had several "diamond in the rough" players in mind to finish rounding out the roster, but none have been confirmed as of yet. He also gave some insight as to what had happened with the previous roster, saying that only fiziq and Bradley "crazylegs" Waddington were open to coaching and feedback. He also had some blunt words in regards to the witmer-era of the team:
Sadly, picking up witmer really killed this team. I sold the team on the idea and had a long phone conversation with him, but some people can't get out of their own way. I hope Shawn gets his life figured out, but he went from a TwitLonger about humbling himself and finding the motivation to grind, to quitting within 2 weeks.
As it stands, the temporary roster for Guerrilla Tactics is as follows:
- Spenser "shrek" Adams
- Zander "FIEND" Bates
- Anthony "agony" M.
- Christopher "Spriggals" Spriggs (Stand-in)
- Belal "FGB" Ahmad (Stand-in)
- Justin "coachJ" Anzalone (Coach)
Recomposed and revitalized, Guerrilla Tactics will continue the grind in ESEA Main, with their next match scheduled for February 26th against their ex-teammate crazylegs' new crew main jammers.
