ESL to allow Liquid, Renegades, Virtus.pro to attend IEM Katowice with new rosters
ESL have announced the temporary suspension of rule 2.12.1.1, which will now allow Liquid, Renegades and Virtus.pro to attend IEM Katowice with their newly tweaked rosters. It was previously thought that the event would be Josh "jdm64" Marzano's last with his former team, after being replaced by Renegades' Keith "NAF" Markovic.
The exact content of the rule is as follows:
A player can only join an IEM participant if he has not been playing for more than one other team in ESL Pro Gaming competitions during the last 120 days
It is not known when this rule entered the IEM ruleset, but it has seemingly not been enforced before. ESL stated that moving forward, the organizer will evaluate how to modify the rule, and that they recognize it is not working as intended.
IEM Katowice will kick off on February 27th, with $500,000 on offer. Cloud9, Liquid, SK, and Renegades will all be attendance, as well as many other top teams in the world.
