StarLadder cancel first event of 2025
StarLadder have confirmed in a press release today that they can canceled their Spring event, StarLadder StarSeries S19 due to scheduling conflicts with the BLAST.tv Austin Major. The event was originally slated to run from May 26th to June 1st, which would have see the European LAN start a day after IEM Dallas 2025 while also running up against the Major Regional Qualifiers (MRQs) for North America's first major in seven years.
Overall, StarLadder was expected to host four events in 2025 but is now only scheduled to host one this year, a fall event in Budapest, Hungary that is set to run from September 13th-21st. For the fall event, StarLadder has stated the invite date will be July 4th, while presumably using Valve's July VRS update.
Additionally, the TO has shared dates and details for the various regional qualifiers for the LAN:
-
North America: Eight teams, July 15–21, one team qualifies for the main event.
-
South America: Eight teams, July 15–21, one team qualifies for the main event.
-
Europe: Sixteen teams, August 12–17, two teams qualify for the main event.
StarLadder are also rumored to be hosting the second Major of 2025 in December in Budpaest, so this event will serve as something of a dry run for the TO for their return to CS esports and for hosting an event in the Eastern European capital.
