Cryptic: "I have very high standards for us going into this RMR"
With the Perfect World Shanghai Major RMRs kicking off today with the Asia-Pacific RMR, BOSS head into the Major qualifier as the only orgless squad among the 56 hopefuls looking to qualify to Counter-Strike 2's second Major. As such, Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore and co. face some unique disadvantages in achieving their Major dream as the team were unable to bootcamp ahead of the RMR and had to rely on the less than optimal NA practice environment to prepare for the team for the most important tournament of the year.
Despite this major disadvantage, in an interview with HLTV ahead of the Americas RMR Cryptic sounded confident in the team's ability to perform in Shanghai, saying, "I have very high standards for us going into this RMR. We are actually hedging our bets really well going into this."
This confidence will hopefully go a long way for BOSS as the team have a difficult opening match at the Americas RMR, with the team set to face off against M80 in their opening Bo1.
Despite their 2-13 record against one of NA's best teams, BOSS's coach, Matthew "Warden" Dickens, says the team actually prefers to face the domestic juggernaut stating, "we could have drawn Liquid, and I would prefer to play M80 over Liquid, and there are a few others out that I think I prefer M80 over. We're not fearful of them. We know [M80] are good, but it's a team I think we can knock off as well."
With their run at the Americas RMR likely to decide if BOSS find an organization heading into 2025, all eyes will be on BOSS at the RMR when they take on M80 at 01:00AM tomorrow.
