CS2 content creator says run-and-gun isn't more accurate, but still effective
A recent post from Team Liquid’s Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken has drawn a huge portion of the Counter-Strike community into a debate about the usefulness of running and gunning. While preparing for the BLAST World Final in Singapore, Twistzz posted a warm-up clip of him wide-swinging around corners and getting fast, accurate kills with the AK and the Glock without slowing down.
Donald "voo" Parkhurst, a content creator who specializes in analysis and coaching, saw this clip from Twistzz and dove into why players believe that running and gunning is better now than it was in CS:GO. It turns out, according to him, that it’s not.
In his video, voo compares the run-and-gun spray patterns between CS:GO and CS2, and concludes that they are generally the same. He claims that because of the CS2 sub-tick and peeker’s advantage, hitting opposing players when they’re running is harder now than it was in CS:GO. Players are now more inclined to run-and-gun in CS2 because they’re harder to hit, prompting players to try and see how much shooting while moving they can get away with.
Inadvertently or not, CS2 now requires to players to be a lot more mobile than they were in CS:GO, and as voo brings up, that explains why players like Danil "donk" Kryshkovets are changing what it means to be a star when it comes to movement.
