Wildcard fall to FlyQuest in close series
Wildcard have excited ESL Challenger Atlanta in the semifinals following a close 2-1 loss to FlyQuest earlier today. Wildcard's elimination at the hand of the Australian squad comes after Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's troops earned a playoffs berth by defeating their domestic rivals, M80, in a close series on Staurday.
The series between Wildcard and FlyQuest began on Nuke, Wildcard's pick, with the latter team likely regretting the decision as FlyQuest started off with an 8-1 lead on their CT-side before the half closed out with the Aussies leading 10-2. After switching sides, Wildcard finally began to show some signs of life on their T-side, closing the gap considerably to extend play to round 24, where a failed albeit near-impossible clutch attempt from Josh "JBa" Barutt gave FlyQuest Nuke 13-11.
Moving onto Dust2, Wildcard began the first half on their CT-side in a much more competitive fashion as they began 5-1 up before letting FlyQuest close the gap to a 6-6 tie at the half. On their T-side, Wildcard finally had a breakthrough in the series, with stand-in Sebastian "fr3nd" Kuśmierz leading the charge for Wildcard to take Dust2 13-9.
With the series tied up, Anubis ending up being a dismal and disappointing end to Wildcard and NA's run in Atlanta as they did not show up against FlyQuest at all, with FlyQuest winning their T-side 9-4 before taking the map 13-4.
With their win, FlyQuest will now be awaiting SAW or BIG in the finals later today.
