Twistzz, fellow IGLs threaten to skip BLAST Premier Fall Final media day in protest
Around an hour ago, a number of IGLs set to attend the BLAST Premier Fall Finals all released identical posts on X stating that they, "might be unfit for Blast Media tomorrow". While the series of cryptic posts do not provide context, many are speculating that the four IGLs are planning an act of protest directed at BLAST for their handling of Astralis' emergency request to add Casper "cadiaN" Møller to their lineup in place of Alexander "br0" Bro for the event. HLTV recently reported that the phrase "unfit to play" is lifted directly from Astralis' explanation to BLAST for br0's emergency substitution.
For the full story, check out Luís 'MIRAA' Mira's excellent article on HLTV that brought the situation to light, but essentially many have raised eyebrows due to BLAST allowing Astralis to add cadiaN to their lineup outside of the transfer window due to a supposed "medical emergency" affecting br0.
The optics of using an emergency substitute to add cadiaN has been viewed by many with suspicion due to the incredibly opportune timing of br0's sickness, especially as his own agent, Fabian Broich, has said br0 is, "Alex is fully healthy and ready to perform."
With this irreconcilable difference between Astralis' claim and Broich's claim, many teams set to attend the Danish event have cried foul publicly and privately especially as many of the same teams have had struggles with getting substitutes approved.
Therefore, it appears that these players are attempting to protest the decision by declining to attend the BLAST Premier Fall Finals under the guise of similar "illness". With the protest seemingly set to go ahead it is likely to significantly strain relations at the event as media days are an important part of a TOs operations and teams are generally highly discouraged and often fined for missing this obligation.
