M80 smash Imperial to lock in EPL quarterfinals!
M80 have smashed Imperial in the upper bracket final of ESL Pro League Season 20's Group C, seeing America's hottest new team continue their excellent form and guarantee NA a top-eight finish at the Maltese LAN.
The series began with M80 starting Vertigo on the T-side, with the Americans closing out a confident start to the map with an 8-4 lead. This run of good from on the map continued as M80 won the first four rounds on their CT-side as well, climbing up to a massive 12-4 lead that the Brazilians found too difficult to navigate despite winning three more rounds, leading to M80 closing out their map pick 13-7.
Moving onto Dust2, the first half was less decisive than Vertigo's opening, with M80 and Imperial trading rounds before M80 were able to tie the half 6-6. After switching sides, Imperial started their CT-side off in the lead as they won the first four rounds in a row to find their tenth round.
While Imperial's lead put them in pole position to force a third map, M80 completely flipped the script as Mason "Lake" Sanderson led the charge with 15 kills and 130.8 ADR, allowing M80 to win seven out the next eight rounds to close out Dust2 13-11 to take home the series 2-0.
