NRG competing in RMR NA CQ from rival's HQ
NRG is kicking off its 2024 Perfect World Shanghai Major in style. For the next few days, it will compete from Complexity's Frisco offices. The lineup aims to qualify for the RMR for the second time and take one of the seven Americas spots for the upcoming Major in China.
The American squad has been in resurgent form ever since adding former Liquid IGL Nick "nitr0" Cannella. The Grand Slam-winning leader has only lost to Wildcard and Party Astronauts since July, making the team one of the favorites for this week's qualification event.
"COL HQ has a 100% qualification rate, wishing them luck," said Complexity GM Graham "messioso" Pitt. "They better not let us down."
It will be a tight race this week as sixteen of the best teams from North America compete for just four spots in the upcoming Americas RMR. With the new format, the top eight teams from the Americas have automatically qualified for the event while the remaining eight spots are equally distributed between North and South America.
NRG will have to fight against squads like Legacy, Wildcard, and Nouns if they hope to become one of the four teams to advance. As with previous tournaments, this event will use a Buchholz scored swiss system with a 4th place tiebreaker to determine every team that qualifies to Shanghai.
NRG begin their campaign this afternoon at 03:00PM against Akimbo.
