FaZe put an end to Liquid's win streak
After an amazing debut with the new-look squad, Liquid continued its winning ways in Germany, qualifying for IEM Cologne's main stage only losing one map. Liquid faced FaZe with hopes of maintaining its streak alive, but FaZe showed up stronger.
With this result, Liquid will face the loser of the Vitality v. FURIA series in the lower bracket where three wins are needed in order to secure playoffs.
The series didn't start off well for Liquid, as FaZe would take an early 5-0 lead on the CT-side of Mirage. Liquid fought back, reaching halftime with a 7-5 deficit. The second half would continue to see a lot of balance between the two teams, as no one was able to run away with the score. Ultimately, FaZe managed to secure the 13-11 win and steal Liquid's pick.
FaZe and Liquid continued very evenly matched, as Nuke went to halftime with a 6-6 tie despite some runs from both teams that, ultimately, didn't create enough distance to take the lead. The second half painted a different picture, as Liquid secured the first two rounds, with FaZe winning six in a row. At the series point, Liquid finally got back on the board but FaZe claimed the 13-10 Nuke win, clinching the series 2-0.
