Hopefully a bad July can lead to a better August for Complexity

What to expect from the Complexity v. Heroic rematch

Second time's the charm?

Complexity's loss against HEROIC on July 29th was a disappointing affair for the team and their fans as Complexity have continued their post player break malaise that started at EWC 2024. With the team beating OG and heading into a rematch against HEROIC, all eyes will on COL to see if they can deliver a win against a team they should've bested the first time. The big consideration for this match is whether Eetu "sAw" Saha or Abdul "degster" Gasanov will show up to play and how that will affect Complexity's chances.

Lolplexity or Ohplexity?

Complexity at BLAST Premier Fall Groups have been in a malaise that earnestly started all the way back at EWC 2024. The team have not returned to their from seen before the player break and even if they showed some life against OG the other day there's still concerns about this rematch against HEROIC even if sAw is still in the lineup tomorrow.

  • EliGE played well against OG despite the close match

  • hallzerk has been the most dependable piece this event, leverage that against an AWP-less HEROIC

  • Being knocked out of Fall Groups would be another poor result from COL post-player break

To degster or not to degster

HEROIC beat Complexity 2-1 with their coach in action which is quite frankly embarrassing for a team with top ten aspirations. As such, imagine how much worse things will with degster in the mix. At this point, news points to the Russian AWPer not making the event, but he will cause COL some serious trouble if he does turn up in Copenhagen.

  • TeSeS walloped COL with a 1.42 rating and looked good against Spirit

  • Even if sAw is a flat tire, he rolled better than JT on his day

  • Keep an eye out for degster's plane

Likely Vetoes

While Complexity's loss to HEROIC with their coach was fairly sobering, all things considered it was relatively competitive and the maps chosen for the series were not the issue for Complexity. As such, we can expect this veto to be almost identical to their previous match on July 29th.

  • HEROIC ban Inferno (Permaban)

  • Complexity ban Mirage (Permaban)

  • HEROIC pick Inferno (69% Winrate, beat COL 13-8 last time)

  • Complexity pick Vertigo (Lost to HEROIC last time on a razor's edge)

  • HEROIC ban Anubis (HEROIC should expect a third map, and giving COL one of their best is a bad idea)

  • Complexity ban Dust2 (25% Winrate)

  • Nuke could be the decider

Analysis: There's not a ton to say outside of the fact that it is totally plausible Anubis could be the decider once again if HEROIC don't feel the need to change anything. However, that seems fairly foolhardy and forcing Complexity onto Nuke, a map they do not have a great record on, is advisable especially as COL barely beat OG on it just a few days ago.

For avoidance of doubt, just throw out my veto prediction entirely if degster materializes in Copenhagen in the next 12 hours, all bets are off if HEROIC have their star AWPer shows up.

Complexity will play HEROIC bright and early tomorrow at 06:00AM.
