hate departs Mythic: "I was becoming too complacent"
Last night Nicholas "hate" Young stepped down from Mythic, marking the first change in the stream team's roster in more than a year. The 23-year-old rifler joined Mythic back in January 2022, spending seven seasons with Mythic during which the roster was incredibly stable, with the sole change seeing Tyler "tweiss" Weiss step down and be replaced by Cooper "Trucklover86" Phelps at the start of 2023.
During hate's lengthy tenure with Mythic, the team saw quite varied results in ESL Challenger League, running the gamut from two top eight finishes during Seasons 41 and 47 while the squad had to play Relegation in Season 42 and 44. While the team's individual fortunes varied at times, hate was a consistent if unremarkable piece for Mythic in CS2, ending his tenure with the team in that game with a 0.99 rating over 103 maps.
In speaking with Dust2.us, hate explained why he was departing the squad at this time, stating that "I was becoming too complacent. I want to either focus on real life or to try competing at a higher level one last time." With this, hate is now looking for a new team for the first time in CS2, hoping to find a top squad to ply his trade with after years under the Mythic banner.
