lowrider leaves GGPR and retires from CS:GO
Chase "lowrider" Releford has announced his retirement from CS:GO and departure from GGPR after the team failed to make playoffs in ESEA Premier Season 38.
lowrider's decision to leave the game comes after a seven-year-long career that reached its apex when GGPR qualified for playoffs during ESEA Premier Season 36. Unfortunately for lowrider, his final season in Premier saw GGPR miss out on playoffs following a number of setbacks that resulted in a 3-4 regular season.
This result can be attributed in part to GGPR having to field Aurele "quick" Hebert after Jack "xCeeD" Holiman left the team to join Triumph. xCeeD's decision was quite controversial in the GGPR camp as the team argues that xCeeD went behind their back to play for Triumph and that he should've known it would leave him ineligible to finish the season with GGPR.
As such, GGPR argued that ESL should've been more accommodating as they argue xCeeD shouldn't have been able to play for any other team in ESL Pro Tour competitions after the Premier roster lock. xCeeD for his part said he was unaware of the rule and that regardless of the rules he didn't want to play for GGPR anymore and would've only done it as a favor to the team.
GGPR also forfeited their final match of the season after Brody "BeaKie" Kelly had to go to the hospital ahead of the team's final match against RBG. GGPR say they asked ESL for the usage of an emergency substitute but were unable able to get the request approved on such short notice.
With lowrider retiring, GGPR's roster is for the moment:
- Sean "Inseaniac" Morrison
- Brody "BeaKie" Kelly
- John "JTMythic" Timmermann
- Aurele "quick" Hebert
- Erich "ninja" Beyer (Coach)
GGPR are likely set to face a number of changes before ESEA Premier Season 39 kicks off as numerous players told Dust2.us that they are considering their options for next season, with Sean "Inseaniac" Morrison stating in particular that he is unlikely to stay with the team.
