Sextet of teams punch tickets to IEM Season XVI: Fall 2021

The dust has settled and another Closed Qualifier has concluded, this one for IEM Season XVI: Fall 2021. Bad News Bears, paiN, GODSENT, oNe, ATK, and Triumph will all attend the main event, while just RBG and Strife were eliminated from contention this past weekend.

RBG snatched a convincing 10-5 lead in the opening half of play but squandered it by only managing to tally two defensive victories on Inferno. Conversely, paiN seized a 12-3 lead on Nuke and closed the squeaky door on both the map and the series to punch their ticket to the main event.

Three of Triumph's five players had a KD of -10 or worse in the series as oNe turned a strong map one win into a clean 2-0 series sweep. Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa popped off with 55 kills in two maps to secure his Brazilian compatriots the win.

Despite being lit up on the scoreboard with regard to frags ATK utilized strong T-sides in the second half of both Vertigo and Mirage to climb out of the lower bracket and into the main event. Ian "motm" Hardy finished with a server-best 1.37 rating in the rubber match.
