Triumph and Mythic qualify to DreamHack Open September
The DreamHack Open September Closed Qualifier came to a close last week, seeing Triumph and Mythic make their way into the main event. As such, they will play what will likely be North America's last DreamHack event as the brand has officially been retired for CS:GO competitions.
Day one of the qualifier saw Triumph claim a narrow win over ATK while Saad "Pluto" Siraj helped power GGPR to a 2-0 victory over Third Impact. Meanwhile, ChocoCheck came from behind to claim a 2-1 win over Mythic and Eros claimed the biggest upset of day one as they pulled off a 2-0 victory over Dylan "SATURN" Finch and Strife.
Day two started off with Triumph crushing GGPR on Vertigo before taking a close 19-16 overtime win on Inferno to advance to the upper bracket final. Unfortunately for GGPR, they had to field Mike "CuZ" Nang as a stand-in for Chase "lowrider" Releford for the majority of the series. The other upper bracket series was a relatively easy win for ChocoCheck as they took down Eros thanks in part to strong performances from Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly and Zack "XotiC" Elshani.
Down in the lower bracket, day two was closed out by ATK falling to Third Impact 2-0 and Mythic keeping their qualifier dreams alive with a 2-1 win over Strife.
Moving into day three, Triumph clinched their spot in the main event in a three-map series against ChocoCheck. The opening map, Mirage, went to ChocoCheck after Dominick "JazzPimp" Dimpfel had his chance to shine with a 1.41 rating. Unfortunately for ChocoCheck, the wheels began to come off the wagon in map two as Triumph claimed a strong 16-10 win on Inferno before absolutely crushing ChocoCheck 16-4 on Overpass. It is worth noting that the team had to field Riley "Reality" Fusch as a stand-in on Overpass for the majority of the map for XotiC, with the latter player only returning after ChocoCheck were down 12-3.

Back in the lower bracket, Eros continued to take scalps against higher-ranked Premier opposition as they claimed a close 2-0 win over Third Impact while Mythic bested GGPR 2-0. In the lower bracket final, Eros' run finally came to an end after a labored two-map series from Mythic that saw new additions Bradley "Slugy" Kohler and Johnny "JDubs" Wu shine with 1.29 ratings.
In the consolidation final, Slugy and JDubs continued to be integral players for Mythic alongside Josiah "JoJo" Jimenez as the three players combined to push Mythic to a 16-14 win on Dust2 and a 16-10 win on Mirage.
