Premier quintet and O PLANO reach second day of first cs_summit 8 qualifier
The first day of the first qualifier for cs_summit 8 has concluded, seeing ESEA Premier sides Triumph, RBG, Veloz, Third Impact, and Party Astronauts reach the second day of play. Joining them are Advanced squads HeadShotKings and Counter Nature, with the field being completed by Vito "kNgV-" Giuseppe's O PLANO, in the team's first outing.
The first two rounds of the 84-team qualifier proceeded as expected, with the first upsets occurring in the third round of play. There, Mythic, fielding Kory "SEMPHIS" Friesen in place of Eric "adreN" Hoag, fell 16-10 to YeniCherry, who will be playing Advanced for the first time in Season 37.
Similarly, Brazilian squad Imperial found themselves on the wrong side of a 16-13 loss to Main side Vicious Kitties. Like Mythic, Imperial were utilizing the benched Guilherme "piriaz1n" Barbosa in place of Caio "zqkS" Fonseca, who is experiencing as-of-yet unexplained visa issues.
The final notable result from the round saw the newly formed (and now free agent) side of QcClan fall to Third Impact 16-10 on Train. Marshall "minus" Sedowicz, standing-in for in-game leader Noah "insane" Eheart led the way for Third Impact, while Brandon "YuZ" Cyr did the same for QcClan in the losing effort.
The fourth round of play saw YeniCherry's and Vicious Kitties' runs emphatically cut short by Veloz and Party Astronauts, respectively, with neither of the upstart sides managing to secure more than five rounds against their Premier opponents.
In an all-Premier match, RBG deftly handled Recon5's new-look side 16-7, though the latter were utilizing Josh "Spoice" Betters in place of Tyler "tweiss" Weiss.
The round was rounded out by two upsets, as HeadShotKings stunned Big Chillin 16-3 on Overpass. Even more surprisingly, oNe were handed a 16-13 loss by Counter Nature.
