Party Astronauts eliminated from ESL Challenger Melbourne
After a tough first day in Melbourne, Party Astronauts found themselves on the brink of elimination, having to fight for their life against sunday school in a BO3 elimination series. PA breezed past the Australians only to fall against Aurora in the decider series.
Party Astronauts have already secured their tickets to the next ESL Challenger event, happening in Jönköping, Sweden, in June. Meanwhile, the team will continue its ESL Challenger League campaign, which currently sees the Partynauts in fourth place.
The second day in Melbourne started with a good old stomp against sunday school. The series began with PA's almost flawless CT-side on Nuke, only losing one round. The second half ended quickly as the North Americans won the pistol round and the next one, claiming the 13-1 win on the first map. Up next was Overpass and the Astronauts continued pouncing as they would win the T-side half 10-2 only to end the map with a 13-2 score.
This win granted PA a shot at qualifying for the playoffs. They would have to face Aurora, once again, but this time in a BO3 series. The match got off to a bad start, as Aurora would comfortably win Inferno 13-3. Onto Aurora's pick of Overpass, compared to the previous day, things were much better for the NA side, as they would win the CT-side 7-5. Despite PA's lead at the half, Aurora would come back to claim the 13-11 win and the playoff spot.
Party Astronauts leave Melbourne after two losses against Aurora and a win against sunday school, netting them $3,000 in prize money.
