High Coast best Bad News Bears to win ESEA Spring Cash Cup 3

Due to winning two in a row, High Coast will miss out on this week's cash cup.

High Coast have won ESEA Spring Cash Cup 3 after besting Recon 5 and Bad News Bears in the event's second day. Due to pocketing the $9,000 prizepool for the second week in a row, High Coast will be ineligible to participate in ESEA Spring Cash Cup 4.

Day two started off with Bad News Bears in excellent form, with the team easily dispatching Triumph with quick 16-8 and 16-7 wins on Dust2 and Overpass, respectively. Notably during this series Gabe "Spongey" Greiner led the server in a rare star-level performance, ending the series with a 1.45 rating.

The other semifinals series was far closer, with High Coast looking vulnerable as they were pushed to their limits by Recon 5. The series saw High Coast win Recon 5's map pick of Overpass 16-13 before Recon 5 returned the favor by winning Dust2 16-14. The stalemate was resolved as High Coast won the decider map, Inferno, 16-10 to advance to the finals.

In the finals, High Coast quickly shook off their earlier vulnerability, pushing Bad News Bears to the limit on their map pick, with a standout performance from Nick "alter" Jackson allowing Bad News Bears to narrowly win the map 16-14. Moving onto Dust2, High Coast continued to pressure Bad News Bears claiming a decisive 11-4 T-side before winning the map 16-6. Notably, on Dust2 Jonathan "Jonji" Carey had a rare poor game, with the Canadian ending the map with only nine kills while dying 21 times.

With the series tied up,  High Coast burst into their T-side on Inferno, exploiting Jonji in banana while leaving Bad News Bears scratching their heads as their opponent dominated the half 13-2. With the prospect of another blowout in front of them, Bad News Bears managed to rally, winning ten out of the first twelve rounds to put the team back in contention. Unfortunately, after failing to contain Bad News Bears for most of the half, High Coast found their footing, winning the next two rounds to win Inferno 16-13 to clinch the series.

This series saw IGL Alan "Shakezullah" Hardeman also assume the role as leading fragger as he put up a 1.39 rating.
