FURIA CEO: "Standing still is not an option"
The Americas region is reeling from disappointing finishes out of FURIA and Complexity, the latter more due to their 2-0 start in the final qualifying stage before playoffs. FURIA's CEO Jaime Pádua took to X, formerly Twitter, to express his obvious frustration with the Brazilian squad's 0-3 result, but also hinting that changes could be coming on the horizon.
"Our campaign was well below expectations and no one is happy with it here. We fully understand everyone’s frustration and share the same sentiment…" Pádua had started. "We will continue to evaluate all possibilities for change that are within the viability of the market and transfer windows, as we have done in the past. Standing still is not an option."
The organization has already made some blockbuster moves in the past by bringing in Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo for a reported $700,000 and Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes during the last summer.
Signing the two were considered massive moves by the organization who were not known to make such splashes in the market. Most moves previously saw them bring up Academy players like Lucas "honda" Honda and André "drop" Abreu.
Pádua ended his comments with, "on the other hand, how cool it is to see more Brazilian teams having good campaigns in the Major. And still see the number of athletes trained here representing other teams very well. The region only grows with all of this."
FURIA were eliminated from the PGL Copenhagen Major in the Elimination Stage with an 0-3 record. The squad had come back in the Opening Stage from an 0-2 record as they defeated KOI, ENCE, and SAW.
FURIA will now head off to China for IEM Chengdu in the beginning of April and will also take part in GET Rio later that month.
