noway: "I have been focused on having as much fun as possible"
After a statement win over Virtus.pro, Imperial are off to a 1-0 start in the Elimination Stage of the PGL Copenhagen Major, keeping the momentum going from the Opening Stage. One of the main catalysts for the Brazilians' success has been Kaiky "noway" Santos. The 18-year-old Major debutant is averaging a 1.11 rating in Copenhagen and has looked comfortable doing so.
Dust2.us' Ryan Friend spoke with noway to discover if the young rifler has been feeling nervous given that this is only his second career LAN. The pair spoke about Imperial preparations for games and the player's comeuppance into professional Counter-Strike.
For many in North America that might not know who you are or where you came from, can you say what your experiences have been before joining Imperial?
I was only playing pugs, the famous pugs with guys from my [Twitch] chat, with my friends, and streaming. Four months ago, I joined Imperial and we are here now on the Major journey.
This is your second Major LAN ever in your career. Have you been nervous at all to play in an event of this scale?
Oddly enough, I haven't been nervous because I have something in my head which is to have fun playing. I have been focused on having as much fun as possible and enjoying this moment with my team, who have been supporting me. I am taking everything as a joke, something to have fun and enjoy, so, no, I haven't been feeling any nervousness. On the contrary, it's been a great time, an excellent place, and a lot of fun playing here.
You had one of your best performances of the whole event against Virtus.pro. Was there anything you were doing differently this game compared to all the others?
Actually, no, nothing different. I just kept practicing on DM, and AimBots, killing some bots during the night, and exchanging ideas with zakk, and the guys about the maps and new starts. We did the same thing but we were always smiling, always calm during the game, just to really have fun and enjoy as much as possible because it's a very special moment for my life and my career.
You are 1-0 up now. What are you going to do to prepare for the second game?
We are going to analyze this last match, analyze some other maps, and practice again, keep practicing, we can't stop, there's no rest. Keep practicing without stopping and let's go.
