GX fall to eXtatus on Cache
An initial seven round spree from eXtatus saw them lock GX out of bombsites repeatedly, thanks to a solid A site defense by David "frozen" Čerňanský. It wasn't until round eight that GX would finally break the streak by taking a clean round for themselves.
Despite keeping all five players alive, a reset would spell disaster for GX in the ensuing round, and it first seemed as if the round would go in favor of eXtatus; however, a one-on-three clutch by Keven "AZK" Lariviere allowed GX to stabilize their economy. Two more rounds were claimed by GX before eXtatus answered back with the same, with the final two rounds of the half also being split between the teams.
GX took the second pistol round of the match to give themselves an economical advantage going into the half, and followed up their initial victory by crushing eXtatus' force-buy. GX weren't able to capitalize on their money advantage as an eco round A site hit from eXtatus tore the North Americans apart.
Although GX reset their opponents and claimed three additional rounds, their A site setups on anti-ecos proved to be their downfall as once again eXtatus flooded the bombsite. One final push from GX granted them a single round before eXtatus closed out the match, taking the final three rounds with little contest.
GX will face Ghost Academy in an elimination matchup later today; meanwhile, eXtatus will face SoaR for the first playoff slot out of Group B.
