Extra Salt ready to sink their teeth into North America with FaNg

Crisp mechanics and unproven potential made FaNg an attractive pickup for the upstart organization.

Extra Salt made a lot of noise when they entered the CS:GO scene by signing ex-Cloud9, but there has been a gap in the roster since their foray into the North American landscape. ex-Cloud9's temporary fifth, Gage "Infinite" Green, was not included in the original wave of signings, so today's announcement has confirmed that that final piece of the puzzle will be Justin "FaNg" Coakley, as previously reported by Dust2's own Danish "Nohte" Allana.

FaNg has been a bit of a journeyman since leaving Positive Vibes Only, having logged maps with ex-Recon 5, Rugratz, and even a brief stint with New England Whalers in DreamHack Masters Winter 2020. He averaged a 1.46 rating for Rugratz in the qualifiers for IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 and followed it up with a 1.11 rating in the main event.

Extra Salt haven't played a match since they were ex-Cloud9, most recently placing 3-4th in ESEA Autumn Cash Cup 4 and winning Mustache Masters 2020.

Extra Salt are now:

  • Johnny “JT” Theodosiou
  • United States Ian “motm” Hardy
  • Aran “Sonic” Groesbeek
  • United States Joshua "oSee" Ohm
  • Canada Justin "FaNg" Coakley
  • Tiaan “T.c” Coertzen (Coach)

As previously mentioned, Extra Salt are still yet to debut under their new banner, but could do so in Mythic's Winter Cup, taking place this weekend from January 15-17th, the DreamHack Open January 2021 open qualifiers, or either of ESEA's remaining Winter Cash Cups, featuring newly heightened prize pools.

Big move for Justin. Definitely deserved. Good luck to him and the rest of the the guys on Extra Salt, can't wait to play them in the future.
