GSG9 retool roster with valens, seziwana, and Ryze
GSG9's roster has seen a major shakeup just a week before the start of ESEA Premier Season 36 with Ryan "ROBBY1" Robshaw and Jake "Decko" Muse stepping down from the team and being replaced by Soham "valens" Chowdhury, Dave "seziwana" Schrage, and Eric "Ryze" Brown.
Regarding the departure of ROBBY1 and Decko, Richi "sherps" Sherpa told Dust2.us that they decided to step down from the team because they "couldn’t commit."
The addition of valens comes as little surprise as the former Cloud9 coach was spotted playing with GSG9 in the second ESEA Winter Cash Cup in place of ROBBY1. Although valens brings a wealth of experience to GSG9, his performance on the server will likely leave a lot to be desired, having ended ESEA MDL Season 35 with a 0.72 rating in a 4-12 season with ex-Recon 5.
As for seziwana, he returns to Premier after five seasons away from the division, having last played with the original AZIO lineup in ESEA MDL Season 29. Since then, he has been largely inactive, playing a handful of maps in Advanced during Season 32 and Season 35. The final piece of the new GSG9 lineup, Ryze, also makes his return to Premier after being relegated at the end of Season 35 along with Vireo.pro.
With the addition of this new trio, GSG9 are:
- Richi "sherps" Sherpa
- Johnny "JDubs" Wu
- Soham "valens" Chowdhury
- Dave "seziwana" Schrage
- Eric "Ryze" Brown
GSG9 will be in action during ESEA Premier Season 36, which is set to begin on January 18th.
