CLG Red dismantle Violent Roses to secure DreamHack Showdown grand final berth
The second day of play has concluded for the DreamHack Showdown Winter and CLG Red absolutely demolished Violent Roses to advance to the grand final.
Violent Roses came into the matchup flying high after becoming the first North American female team other than CLG Red to ever beat Dignitas fe, but CLG Red were more than ready to bring them crashing back down to earth. It was CLG Red's first series of the tournament since they were the beneficiaries of a Cyberstorm Blue forfeit on day one.
CLG Red jumped out to a quick 11-4 lead in the opening half of the series, a strong showing on the favored CT-side of Inferno. Things only got better for CLG Red in the second half, they only allowed Violent Roses a single round as they claimed a decisive opening map victory. Emma "Emy" Choe nearly tripled the fragging totals of most of the Violent Roses roster with 28 kills, while Daphnee-Anne "RuNe" Grignon led the losing side with 12 eliminations.
If the opening map was a stomp then the second map was a bloodbath. CLG Red continued to bully Violent Roses on Nuke and jumped out to a commanding 13-2 lead despite starting on T-side. Those two rounds ended up being all that Violent Roses would get as CLG Red posted a flawless four-round second half en route to the series sweep. Jennifer "refinnej" Le led the way for the victors with 23 kills, while the best that Violent Roses could muster were Charissa "Senna" Hoang's 11 frags.
DreamHack Showdown Winter will continue tomorrow with the event's first elimination match between Dignitas fe and Cyberstorm Blue at 1PM EST.
