Violent Roses upset Dignitas fe in DreamHack Showdown Winter opener
The first series of DreamHack Showdown Winter 2020 has concluded, seeing Violent Roses claim an upset 2-1 victory over Dignitas fe.
The cracks began to show for Dignitas fe on Dust2 as they only narrowly won their T-side 8-7. After switching sides, Dignitas fe held onto their lead for the next five rounds, climbing up to 13-7 before Violent Roses answered back by only allowing Dignitas fe one more round before taking the map 16-14.
Dignitas fe initially fared no better on their map pick of Nuke, mounting a modest T-side that saw them win the opening half by a single round. They looked far better on the CT-side as they won the first six rounds in a row before taking the map 16-9.
With the series tied, Dignitas fe carried their momentum from Nuke into the opening half of Overpass, starting the half off 5-1 before winning it 9-6. On their CT-side, Dignitas fe began to run out of steam after the first three rounds, as Violent Roses won the next nine in a row before Dignitas was able to answer back with a single round. After this, they were only able to muster one more round before Violent Roses won the map 16-13, completing the upset victory.
Unfortunately, today's match has been forfeited by Cyberstorm Blue due to a scheduling conflict with the players' school commitments. As such, the next match won't be until tomorrow at 2PM EST when Violent Roses face off against CLG Red. As for Cyberstorm Blue, they will face off against Dignitas fe in the lower bracket on December 18th at 2PM EST.
