GameSquare officially acquires FaZe
GameSquare has finally completed the acquisition of FaZe, the North American content and esports powerhouse, just days after the completed sale of Complexity to Jason Lake.
Rumors first began of a potential acquisition by GameSquare all the way back in June 2023, following a report by Sports Business Journal which linked the struggling company to both GameSquare and Luminosity-owners Enthusiast Gaming.
Following that, GameSquare emerged as the prospective buyers of FaZe back in October with an expected closing by the end of that year. The deadline was later pushed into February before finally closing this week.
Justin Kenna, CEO of GameSquare said in a press release:
On behalf of everyone at GameSquare and FaZe, we are thrilled to announce the successful culmination of our merger, marking a significant milestone in our journey to revolutionize the gaming and media landscape. This strategic alliance strengthens our position across global industries, amplifies our ability to connect brands with elusive and influential youth audiences, and unlocks even more opportunities to support our partners with cutting-edge technology. Together, we will seek to redefine the future of esports and gaming by leveraging our combined expertise to pursue opportunities for growth and innovation. Our commitment remains unwavering as we aim to lead the way in shaping the ever-evolving intersection of gaming, media, and brand engagement.
FaZe, one of the most dominant Counter-Strike teams in recent memory, is set to compete later this month in the first Counter-Strike 2 Major in Copenhagen, Denmark.
