Elevate fall out of BLAST Premier Spring Showdown
Elevate were always going on an uphill battle in this Showdown after losing Deni "dea" Ediev to a stolen passport and facing the IEM Katowice 2024 champions Spirit. While many thought that this game would be a slaughter, Elevate proved that they could hang with some of the best as they kept Vertigo close, even tying it up late in the game to keep it competitive.
While Elevate is now eliminated from the competition, its showing was strong for one of North America's up-and-coming squads.
Vertigo was the better of the two maps from Elevate, which makes sense as they were the ones to pick it. It didn't start out too well for the Americans, however. They definitely got Donk'd as they quickly went down 6-1 on their CT-side. It was up to Wyatt "snav" Phillippi and his teammates as they clawed it back to get to 8-8 thanks to some crisp plays on their T-side. Spirit soon found their footing as they quickly stood their ground and would claim five of the next six rounds to secure a 13-9 win.
With one win in hand, Spirit headed to their own pick of Mirage as they looked to close it out. The American started out slow, but ended the half strong. Spirit ran out to take a 5-1 lead before that was eventually slightly cut down to 8-4 as Elevate grabbed the last two rounds of the half. The Americans continued to look strong as they won the first two rounds of the next half as the T-side, but a smoke defuse by Spirit emotionally and economically wrecked the squad as the Russians capitalized to win the map 13-6.
Elevate, now out of the Showdown, will head back to the US to play in ESL Challenger League after whirlwind week where they also competed in the Americas RMR.
