CarterJ, cuze step down from ex-ImPerium; retire from Counter-Strike
Toryn "cuze" Cartier and Carter "CarterJ" Richardson have announced their departure from ex-ImPerium, while both simultaneously revealing that they will be retiring from CS:GO as well.
When contacted by Dust2.us, both players confirmed that they would still help the team in their ESEA MDL Season 35 Relegation bid, with the tournament set to play out from December 7-9 with four spots in ESEA MDL Season 36 on offer. Notably, Reece "Wilky" Wilkerson had also announced his search for a team at the end of the regular season, but will also help the team compete in Relegation in order to hold their spot.
ESEA MDL Season 35 was the first MDL season for both cuze and CarterJ, with the players averaging 0.85 and 0.73 ratings, respectively. The team ended their run with a 3-13 record, finishing in 17th place overall with narrow victories over Kinship, Vireo.pro, and ex-Recon 5.
In his departure tweet, cuze pointed towards full-time schooling, two jobs, and an internship opportunity at a large engineering company as the reason for his departure, stating that it was "too much to juggle" alongside Counter-Strike. CarterJ, meanwhile, simply stated that his time in the game has come to an end, but mentioned in a Twitter reply that he would "still be around."
ex-ImPerium will field the following roster for ESEA MDL Season 35 Relegation:
- James "EllisoN" Ellison
- Ian "heretic" Carfora
- Toryn "cuze" Cartier (Stand-in)
- Carter "CarterJ" Richardson (Stand-in)
