Yeah and GGPR advance to S35 Advanced Upper bracket final
The ESEA Advanced Season 35 playoffs upper bracket semi-finals have concluded, seeing Yeah and GGPR claim hard fought victories to set up a confrontation in the upper bracket final. Meanwhile in the lower bracket, Rise and ex-Thunder Logic have battled through a number of matches to face SKDC and GSG9, respectively, in the lower bracket semi-finals.
Starting with the upper bracket matches, Yeah began their series against GSG9 firmly in the lead as they crushed GSG9 16-3 on their map pick of Dust2. Moving on to Overpass, GSG9 quickly positioned themselves to get revenge and force a third map as they won the first eight rounds in a row on their CT-side before taking the map 16-6. With the series tied up, Yeah started Inferno with a modest lead as Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer helped push his team to a 9-6 CT-side.
After switching sides, Yeah were ready to close out the series as they quickly climbed up to a 15-8 lead before GSG9 rallied and held their Brazilian opponents at bay long enough to force Inferno into overtime. In overtime, Yeah finally found their footing, winning the first round on their T-side before taking the map 19-16.
The second upper bracket series went the distance as GGPR took down SKDC 2-1 in an 85 round extended series. Starting on Train, SKDC managed to strike the first blow as Dylan "Hiki" O'Kane helped his team to a 16-14 win thanks to a strong CT-side. Moving on to Dust2, GGPR returned fire, answering back with a 16-13 win after coming back from a 5-10 deficit. On Inferno, after conceding their CT-side 7-8, GGPR took control of the map, only conceding two more rounds before sending Kyle "OCEAN" O'Brien and co. to the lower bracket.
Looking towards the lower bracket, Counter Nature and Morning Light were handed uneventful ends to their seasons as they were eliminated 2-0 by ex-Thunder Logic and Rise, respectively. Meanwhile, Heart n Soul and Veloz fared slightly better, taking a map off of Revenant and Vaniity, respectively, before exiting playoffs in 9-12th place.
In lower bracket round three, ex-Thunder Logic continued to plow through their opposition, securing a quick 2-0 over Revenant following a 16-9 win on Dust2 and a 16-8 win on Nuke. During the series, Brian "Brian2K" Ladron De Guevara was especially effective, notching a 1.43 rating.
