Rebirth take down Yeah to qualify for IEM Beijing-Haidian
Rebirth have claimed the final spot on offer at IEM Beijing-Haidian, defeating Yeah 2-0 in the consolidation final of the Closed Qualifier to join the likes of Liquid, Evil Geniuses, and Chaos on the team list for the event.
It was a one-sided showing to kick things off as Rebirth assumed firm control of Yeah's map pick of Mirage. A strong showing from Sebastian "retchy" Tropiano saw the MDL side post a 12-3 lead by the break, with the team wasting little time in bringing about an end to the map as they won four in a row on the T-side to claim a dominant victory.
Vertigo kicked off in a similar vein, with Yeah only managing a pistol round win to open up the map before Rebirth won ten rounds in a row for a firm lead. A string of rounds at the end of the half and another pistol win following the side swap gave Yeah the chance to fight back, allowing the Brazilian-American side to narrowly steal away the lead at 11-10. However, Rebirth remained in contention, finding rounds of their own as the teams battled into overtime, where Kevin '4pack" Przypasniak was the difference maker for Rebirth to edge out a 19-17 map win.
The complete team list for IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 looks as follows:
