Mythic jump to first place | ECL S47 Roundup Day 2
It'll sound like a joke, but after just two days, Mythic are halfway to their total wins compared to last season and by virtue of playing almost more matches than everyone, they now sit alone comfortably at the top of the standings thanks to their two wins over FLUFFY AIMERS. Carpe Diem also got into the action last night as they split their series with Rocket.
Mythic [2-0] FLUFFY AIMERS
It literally couldn't have been closer for Mythic to pull out a 2-0 against FLUFFY AIMERS last night. Two 13-11 wins on Ancient and Vertigo have catapulted Mythic to the top of the leaderboard as they look to improve upon their 10th place regular season finish last season.
The series started on Ancient, where Mythic played the majority of the half needing to retake on their CT-side. The streamers would need four defuses to help them to a 7-5 half, which was necessary as they scraped by on their T-side. Despite the early lead, they would eventually go down to the AIMERS 7-9 before finding their groove and powering to a second-half come-from-behind 13-11 win. Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir rolled back the years with his 27 kills, 121.5 ADR, and 1.72 HLTV Rating.
Vertigo was almost a similar story as Mythic muscled their way to an early 6-2 lead before securing their first half T-side 8-4. The second half was more troubling for the squad as FLUFFY AIMERS came roaring back on their T-side to tie it up several times. Mythic finally put up enough of a strong defense and held out for another 13-11 win.
Carpe Diem [1-1] Rocket
Rocket and Carpe Diem, once again without Colby "Walco" Walsh, duked it out last night with both sides coming away with a win. In the opening match on Ancient, Rocket were the ones to get their win first with their second-half T-side powering them through. It was an even split first half, with both sides getting six rounds in three-round sprees. The second half saw Matthew "nero" Seymour really turn on the jets as he came away with 11 kills in seven rounds and a 151.1 ADR to help Rocket to a 13-7 win.
Carpe Diem got their revenge on Overpass, despite almost throwing it all away. The squad started out with a dominant 7-1 T-side lead, but Rocket bided their time and were able to scrape back four rounds at the end of the half to keep it somewhat close. Rocket would continue that momentum on their T-side as the 7-1 lead was quickly turned into an 8-11 deficit. However, Jack "micro" Ryan helped turn the tide and pushed his squad to a 13-11 win.
