Chicago CS:GO Open announced
Mad City has announced on their website a $10,000 CS:GO Open tournament set to take place from March 9th to 11th in Chicago, Illinois. The event will feature up to 32 teams, with three teams having the opportunity to acquire travel money and free entry through an online open qualifier. The qualifier will cap at 48 teams and will use a double elimination bracket to determine the three teams who will receive free spots at the main event.
The format for the main tournament includes a group stage with eight four-team groups that will use round robin to determine the top two teams from each group. These 16 teams will advance to a single elimination playoff bracket to determine the tournament champion. Every game in the group stage will be best of one and will not use overtime. The round of 16 will use best of ones, the quarterfinals and semifinals will use best of threes, and the grand final will use a best of five.
As this tournament in a part of the N3rd Street Gamers Easter Conference, the winner of this event is granted a spot at the NSG Eastern Conference Championship in Washington D.C.. The winning team is also awarded paid travel to the event and a high seed.
