Soccer star receives CS2 ban
Gabriel Jesus, a Brazilian striker for English Premier League giants Arsenal F.C., posted on X earlier this morning that he had received a VAC ban and appealed to the developer to unban the account.
Upon close inspection of the screenshot, and according to Dust2 Brasil, the soccer star did not actually incur a VAC ban, but rather a Game Ban. According to Valve, a VAC ban is applied to an account when that account connects to a VAC-protected server with a cheat program running. A Game Ban is applied to an account participating in malicious behavior which falls outside of VAC detection.
Malicious behavior can include potential cheating, losing on purpose, bots, or interfering with other players. Those hit with a game ban do have the ability to appeal the ban, but must contact the developer directly. As for Jesus and his 1.8 million followers on X, it's likely that Valve is already aware of the issues.
However, should that ban become permanent, Jesus has another issue on his hands. According to Price Empire, a user that appraises the value of CS2 skins, the Arsenal striker has an inventory worth approximately $38,000. Under a game ban, players are not allowed to trade their inventory from the game they are banned. While the $38,000 is concerning for many, it likely isn't too much for Jesus considering his $337,000 weekly salary.
