n0rb3r7: "It gives us more confidence for the next tournaments if we win this"
Virtus.pro is hoping to find success down in A-Town as they have all traveled to the United States for this event, with some coming to America for the first time ever. For the squad, they've already made it to the playoffs thanks to two Bo1 victories over M80 and Monte.
Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore got the chance to speak with David "n0rb3r7" Daniyelyan about the team's rivalry with Spirit, how Dzhami "Jame" Ali is adapting to CS2, and some of the fun things the team has thought about doing in the United States, including a trip down to Miami. Please note that the full interview can be found below on YouTube, while the transcript has some key snippets from their conversation.
Do you feel that Spirit is your main rival right now? How would you rank them?
I think we have more experience as the core. We played a lot of top tier tournaments so I think because of that we're better than them.
Spirit are potentially adding sh1ro to their ranks. With Jame as your AWPer, being a very methodical player, do you think his playstyle still functions at the top level?
[Jame] didn't change anything in his playstyle and our gamestyle. I think for him it's hard to IGL and play with the AWP. He has to focus on AWPing and IGL the team, so I think he's doing a really good job and I hope he will keep doing the same.
Is beating Complexity important here for you guys as you look to re-establish your rank in the world?
We don't think about who we should beat, like Complexity or Monte. It doesn't matter to us. We want to win the trophy, we want to earn the ESL Pro League spot, and it gives us more confidence for the next tournaments if we win this.
With this being your first time in America, is there anything quintessentially American that you are looking to do if you have any off time?
We have Dastan "dastan" Akbayev, he was searching for some good places here in Atlanta. We were thinking about maybe flying to Miami to watch an NBA game because we were here already for four days, but I think there are a lot of places here in Atlanta to watch.
Virtus.pro are scheduled to play in the Semifinals later this Sunday.
