Mythic announce Mythic League League; Swole Patrol, Orgless, Bad News Bears headline invites
Mythic have announced the creation of the "Mythic League League", which will consist of two divisions and feature a prize pool of $25,000.
The first season of the league will have an Invite and an Open division, with the former consisting of a total of 24 teams and the latter having no cap on its participants. For the invite division, 20 teams have been selected by the organizer to take part, while an additional four will secure their spots through two open qualifiers.
The Invite division will kick off on May 24th and utilize four, six-team groups, with each team playing the other members of their group in a best-of-two. The top three teams from each group will advance to the single-elimination playoffs, with the highest placing team from each group earning a first-round bye.
The Open division is slated to begin on May 17th, and will require teams to play a single best-of-one match per week as part of a Swiss system group stage. No entry fee will be required, although all players in the Open division who participate will need a Mythic League subscription, which also grants access to the Mythic League FACEIT hub for PUGs. A seven-week long group stage will culminate with a weekend tournament, wherein the top 25% of teams from the group stage will participate.
While only four teams were revealed in the announcement video for the Invite division, Mythic League has confirmed the participation of an additional ten teams with Dust2.us, with the remaining six set to be unveiled in the coming weeks. The current list of teams is as follows:
Swole Patrol | Bad News Bears |
Orgless | Triumph |
Under 21 | Recon 5 |
Yeah | Big Frames |
Infinity | Thunder Logic |
Oceanus | Monstars |
New England Whalers | Keep the Comms Up |
The first Invite division open qualifier will run from April 18-19, and award the first two qualification spots in the league. The second open qualifier is slated to take place the following weekend, from April 24-25, and will determine the final two teams who will participate in the league. Those who wish to participate or signup for the Open division can do so immediately on the tournament's FACEIT page.
