Can I play Counter-Strike 2 on a Mac?
Counter-Strike 2 was released on September 27th as an update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. In that update, users are no longer able to play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and instead are directed to Counter-Strike 2.
For many fans of the game, this is not a problem as they have played Counter-Strike before and will continue to do so. However, for anyone using a Mac to play with their friends, they will find that they are not able to access the game. On the Steam page for Counter-Strike 2, there are no system requirements listed for Mac users, despite it existing for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
In communication with Valve, the developers confirmed that Mac users will not be able to play Counter-Strike 2 "at this time". As of the most recent Steam hardware check, only 1.57% of consumers are using OS X.
With the rise of computer gaming, Mac has largely fallen behind for enthusiasts, with many choosing PC systems due to the ability to customize graphics cards, processors, and other parts. Valve has made the decision not to prepare the game for the platform, potentially leaving some fans behind. The game is playable on Windows and Linux, if you meet the minimum system requirements.
