Liquid have to go back to NA, despite asking to be in EU

Liquid GM: "We did not ask to be put in the Rest of the World Showdown"

More travel for Liquid's team.

Earlier today, BLAST announced that the North American showdown would be consolidated and restructured as a "Rest of the World Showdown", which almost entirely becomes the Americas with one single Asian import team. Oh, and Liquid, now with a European roster, is playing as well.

However, Liquid did not want to participate in the showdown as Steve "jokasteve" Perino, Liquid CS:GO Manager said in a tweet. "We did not ask to be placed in the rest of the world showdown. We actually pushed to be in the EU showdown due to the logistical hurdles of getting our roster in NA, and knowing it would be more fair."

BLAST explained why Liquid were headed back to North America to compete in the online competition, despite the long travel. Before the roster changes over the summer, Liquid were already headed to the Fall Showdown as they are considered a BLAST North American partner team. Perino contests that Liquid wanted to remain in Europe, but for this edition it does not seem possible. Going forward, Perino says that BLAST will fix this issue.

The following teams will take part in the Rest of The World Showdown October 4th through October 10th:

United States Complexity
United States Evil Geniuses
Brazil FURIA
Brazil Imperial

Liquid
Brazil Fake Natty
TheMongolz
United States Ace Masters Qualifier

Even tho liquid is EU and should be in this show down its funny because I don't consider them the best team in the league. Also the Asian import is a W even tho it's still a bad format I like they include more regions in there

Yeah, the lonely Asian team is a W (for Asia), but it also highlights how poorly the smaller regions are treated.

Personally asia should always have their own league and everything but acknowledge they exist is one step closer to improvement , least 2 spots so oce can have a spot would be better blast format still sucks overall, especially the duopoly with esl to control calendar. Can't wait until the value partners takes effect so looking forward to see more changes

Yeah, I agree Oceania is a must, but I would like to see more regionalized Asian events or even a South African event as well.

That's fair enough, but I never thought it was Liquid's decision. It's clear that BLAST's terrible format is really to blame for being unable to accommodate bringing Liquid into the EU event.
