FURIA PROGRESS
FURIA and their fans can breathe a monumental sight of relief as the Brazilians conquered their European foes at ESL Pro League to advance to the first round of playoffs. The team have been facing incredible scrutiny from their fans and the wider community for their failure to replicate a dominant form that was present with the prior squad, especially considering their recent additions. Now, while FURIA may not be fully on the cusp of greatness, they can reflect on their victory today and advancement as a building block.
The first match saw FURIA get ahold of their favored Mirage as they looked to start off the series strong. However, FURIA stumbled in their opening T-side, only managing six rounds while GamerLegion’s defense held strong. Despite that, the Brazilians rallied back and forced an overtime where they were able to squeak out a close 19-15 win to secure the first map.
For GamerLegion, the hope was to reset the match on Overpass and bring it to a third map on Ancient. While they would win their opening pistol, that was probably the only bright spot for them as FURIA utterly dominated their CT-side and ran away with an 11-4 first half lead. From there, that was all she wrote as the Brazilians took early control in the second half, cleaned up, and walked away with a crisp 16-4 game to bring home the series 2-0.
