Complexity kicked out of Cologne
North America put high hopes in Complexity this season with the star-spangled addition of Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski in place of Justin "FaNg" Coakly. With the former Liquid rifler now helping out a younger NA team, there was hope that was North America would see themselves advance a bit further in the international space. With their first victory over NIP at BLAST the only one they have so far, a matchup against OG was sure to provide them with a potential confidence boost.
The first match started out on Mirage, a map that Complexity both barely play and barely win. For OG, it was conceivable that they would win the first map. However, the Americans did all they could by making it as difficult as possible. As the CT, Complexity kept themselves within touching distance, even leading 6-4 at one point. With the back and forth, there was hope that Complexity could pull away as they re-took the lead to 11-10, but OG finally decided to come back and shut down any hope of a surprise map win.
Overpass was up next, a map that Complexity would comfortably say is their best. Today seemed a different story. A T-side that normally is strong for the Americans looked ineffectual as they quickly fell behind 10-2 with the squad searching for answers to a stalwart OG defense. The second half would not get much better as OG took the T-side pistol and held their advantage as they got to 15. However, Complexity would start to crawl back only to find themselves shut down after a mis-read on the final round, losing out 16-12.
Complexity, now out of the competition, are next playing at ESL Pro League Season 18 which starts in August.
